Proposal of a stage-by-stage design method and its application on a multi-stage multiphase pump based on numerical simulations

Rotodynamic multiphase pumps are usually equipped with many compression units to provide sufficient boosting pressure for the transportation of production fluid in gas oil field. It is a challenge maintain pump performance while flow parameters each stage vary due compressibility gas-liquid phase. In this article, stage-by-stage design method proposed improve capability pump. Variations investigated based on computational dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation. Available methods determinate main impeller geometry discussed. The applied five-stage when inlet volume fraction (GVF) 30% and 50% separately. second modified base its corresponding GVF third 50%. Flow parameters, distribution velocity compared between original Differential increases by 53.72 kPa 58.57 respectively GVFs feasibility verified through comparison results.
